Translation

The Song of School

When I was a year or two younger
And I'm a little red-cheeked, innocent boy
I go to school like all good little boys
Through mist and rain, be it aea' or be it ha'.

Chorus:
But at school I got
History lessons, geography lessons
Englishish lessons over and over
And the occasional Welsh lesson, fair play,
Because I was a little welshman

My mom called every morning at sevon o'clock
She yelled in welsh: Well, get up, if you want your bacon'
After that I got up and swallowed the food down
In welsh dad and mom wished me 'good bye'

And at night, I went for a little walk in the trees/forest
And there I was loved for the first time ever
Under the shrubs I gave my heart to her
And in Welsh I whispered 'Oh, I am your love'

And on sunday, in the chapel I had the luck
To read William Morgan's bible in the compnay of the saints
Jesus spoke Welsh, for what I knew
And Welsh was the language of every prayer, sure to you

But at school I got
History lessons, geography lessons
Englishish lessons over and over
And the occasional lesson,
Yes, but only occasionally the small lesson,
of Welsh, fair play
Because I was a little welshman
